In the meantime, the wicket I use is available domestically from Chuck Ringering, a talented and highly experienced machinist. These fully adjustable wickets are lightweight and accurate. I love mine! However, some dogs are ‘gun-shy’ to having objects passed above their heads and for these individual animals, it’s going to be a little trickier to get an accurate measurement. Personally, I am excited to be working on an alternative to the ‘usual’ U-shaped wickets that are often misinterpreted by a dog, as you position the wicket over the animal’s head. Even if you bring the wicket from the tail end of the dog over to its withers, it is often misinterpreted as a threat. My design will be wall mounted and portable, similar to the height measuring tool used by pediatricians.
